You know when you bake a cake and it looks like it’s done but it’s really not?  Because right below the crisp top, it’s gooey. You discover this when you give it a little nudge with your finger.

Now, the rest of it is okay even the part at the bottom that sits against the pan.  But that top part just isn’t ready.  And sometimes the middle. It’s half-baked.

When I think of half-baked, I think of these things:

Being late for appointments

Sort of being there

Wandering off when someone is talking; I am sitting right there, but I am wandering off in my mind.  Very close to sort of being there. Maybe I don’t want to be there. I didn’t say that, therefore, I am half-baked when I am there. Whoops.

Doing all of the recommendations to reach better health, but one. And that one makes it all work

Missing the synergy in a group because I am judging

Sweeping the floor and not the corners. You know right where the floor comes together underneath the cupboards?  That small space where the floor meets the toe-kick? That’s what I’m talking about.

When I say, “I’ll do it tomorrow.”

Half-baked.  Almost there.

When I think of Baked right on through, I think of my husband, Eric.  The way he carefully puts in the last nail in the framing of a wall, the way he pays attention to details, they way he forms a team of people to serve homeowners. The team  comes together with tattoos, some not, beards, some not, short hair, long hair.  They have one goal; to be the best that they can be. They are Baked through and through.

I think we are always baking cakes. It’s just getting them to the best temperature and knowing when they are done. Giving them time to savor their process. Enjoying them completely. Being Present.  Baked. Warm. True.

Sometimes to stay in our flow, we need to stop.  I have done just  that over these last two months as you have witnessed by my sparse posts.  I wanted to let you know that I am once again in the stream, creating flow and becoming flow with new eyes and intentions.  You will be getting regular posts with thoughts and musings and we will be connected through this wonderful tool, the Web, and begin once again, to spin our web of connection.

Thank you for staying with me and I look forward to deeper, consistent communication.

Warmly,

Ellen
